A. Practice Daily, which includes warm-ups/vocalizes and work on repertoire.
1. Focus on achieving goals rather than “time spent”, but do spend time on practicing (30 minutes to an hour depending on experience, length of lesson and other factors).
2. Learn how to practice carefully and slowly in order to develop proper techniques.
Alternate with “getting the full picture” and singing through large sections.
3. Listening to lesson recordings, studying your music, viewing relevant YouTube videos or audio files are all excellent ways to extend practice without overtaxing one’s voice.
B. Arrive on time to all scheduled lessons and other official events of the studio (such as recitals and workshops the studio is involved in).
C. Students are permitted one make-up lessons per 6 months with 24 hour advance notice. Beyond your one make-up lesson, if my schedule allows, I will try to reschedule for other needs if given significantly advanced notice. If you don’t have a ride or you are sick, do it virtually.
D. Students will provide (by purchasing or borrowing), original copies of all required music for your own use as needed.
E. What to bring to your lesson:
1. Bottled water (no other foods or drinks)
2. Any required sheet music in your binder or book
3. A positive attitude
